Terms and Conditions

The rules for using Synsa and for paying for a plan, in plain words.

Last updated

Paid plans aren’t on sale yet

For now, the plans on our site are in test mode: you can try them with a Synsa account, we never ask for a card and no money is taken. The parts of these terms about paying, renewing, canceling and refunds apply once the paid plans go on sale. Everything else applies now.

The short version

  • Synsa is run by Jose Manuel Arellano, a sole proprietor in California, USA.
  • Using Synsa means you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Synsa.
  • Synsa is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it.
  • Free costs nothing. Your questions go to the AIs through your own OpenRouter or Nano‑GPT account, and you pay them for what you use.
  • Paid plans are monthly subscriptions. They renew every month until you cancel. You can cancel any time, online, and you keep your plan until the end of the month you paid for.
  • Link sells our plans for us. Link (Sold through Link, LLC, part of Stripe) is our reseller and the Merchant of Record for every order: it takes the payment, handles sales tax and receipts, and handles refunds.
  • Your first payment for a plan comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee. Our Refund Policy has the details.
  • AI can be wrong. Check anything important with an expert, especially money, health or legal questions.
  • Use Synsa fairly. Don’t use it to break the law, hurt people or abuse the service. See what isn’t allowed and how to report a problem. We can close accounts that break the rules.
  • What Synsa makes is made by AI. Don’t present it as made by a person.

Who we are and what these terms cover

These terms cover Synsa: the synsa.com website and the AI voice guide on it, Synsa accounts, Synsa news (our email newsletter), our paid plans and the Synsa app for Android.

Synsa is run by Jose Manuel Arellano, a sole proprietor (one person running a business in their own name) based in California, United States. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “Synsa” mean the business that runs Synsa, and “you” means the person using it.

These terms are an agreement between you and us. Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with your information, and our Refund Policy is part of these terms. When you buy a plan, you buy it through Link, so Link’s terms for purchases also apply (see Paid plans and paying).

If we agree a custom deal with you in writing, what we agree there applies too, and it wins where it’s different.

Who can use Synsa

  • Synsa is for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to use Synsa: the app, the website’s voice guide, a Synsa account or Synsa news.
  • To buy a paid plan, you must also be old enough to make a contract where you live, if that is older than 18.
  • If you use Synsa for a company or another organization, you confirm that you’re allowed to accept these terms for it.
  • You can’t use Synsa where the law doesn’t allow you to.

Your account

  • Give true details, keep your password to yourself, and tell us straight away if you think someone else got into your account.
  • You’re responsible for what’s done with your account.
  • An account is for one person, and so is a paid plan. Don’t share your sign-in, and don’t sell or give away access to your account or plan.
  • You can delete your account at any time on your Account page, or in the Synsa app with Profile › My data › Delete my Synsa account. If you have a paid plan, deleting your account cancels it at once: you aren’t charged again, and the plan ends with the account, not at the end of the month you paid for. To keep your plan until that month ends, cancel it instead (see Renewal and canceling).

Free, and your own AI accounts

Synsa Free costs nothing. With it, you ask Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity and any other AI you add, and get Synsa’s Summary and Breeze on every question.

On every plan, the AIs answer through your own accounts at OpenRouter and Nano‑GPT, two stores that sell pay-as-you-go access to hundreds of AIs. You pay them for what you use, under their own terms, and that money goes to them, not to us. We don’t control their prices, how well they work or what their AIs say, and we can’t refund what you paid them.

What Free includes may change over time.

Paid plans and paying

Our paid plans, Starter, Pro and Ultimate, add voice calls, answers read out loud, sharper voice typing, voice notes with transcripts and Google Maps answers, on top of everything in Free; Pro and Ultimate also get early access to new features. You also pay OpenRouter or Nano‑GPT for the AI you use, calls included. Each plan’s price and minutes of voice calls are shown in Pricing on our home page, and again at checkout before you pay. Prices are in US dollars.

Fair use limits

Each paid plan comes with these limits for every month you pay for:

  • Starter: up to 75 minutes of voice calls, 10 hours of answers read out loud, 1 hour of sharper voice typing and voice notes, and 100 Google Maps credits.
  • Pro: up to 175 minutes of voice calls, 20 hours of answers read out loud, 2 hours of sharper voice typing and voice notes, and 100 Google Maps credits.
  • Ultimate: up to 375 minutes of voice calls, 40 hours of answers read out loud, 4 hours of sharper voice typing and voice notes, and 100 Google Maps credits.

Reading out loud is counted in characters: 60,000 characters is about an hour at normal speed, and at faster speeds the same characters take less time to hear. Voice typing and voice notes share one limit, counted for as long as the microphone is recording, pauses included; asking for a voice note’s transcript again counts it again. A simple Google Maps answer uses one credit. One that runs several searches, or a long one, uses more, and a question Google takes too long to answer can still use credits, because Google may already have run its searches.

  • The limits are for each month you pay for. Unused minutes, hours and credits don’t carry over to the next month. When one runs out, that feature stops until your next month starts, unless you move to a bigger plan (every plan has the same Google Maps credits). We never charge you for extra use.
  • Tax. Depending on where you live, sales tax or VAT may be added. Checkout shows the full amount before you pay.
  • Switching plans. If you move to a different plan, you’ll see what changes and what you’ll pay before you confirm.

Link, our reseller

Our order process is conducted by our reseller, Sold through Link, LLC (“Link”), part of Stripe. Link is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. That means you buy your plan through Link: it takes the payment, charges and pays any sales tax or VAT, sends your receipts, and handles billing questions and refund requests. The charge on your statement shows as “LINK.COM* SYNSA” or similar.

When you buy, Link’s Sold Through Link Terms and Purchase Terms apply to the purchase, and these terms still apply to how you use Synsa. For help with a payment, contact us, or contact Link at support.link.com.

Renewal and canceling

Paid plans renew automatically every month until you cancel. Each month, around the date your plan started, Link charges the plan’s price, plus any tax, to the payment method you used, or to the one you’ve changed it to.

Before you pay, checkout shows the price, says that the plan renews every month until you cancel and how to cancel, and asks you to agree. After you buy, Link emails you a receipt, and your Synsa Account page shows your plan, when it renews and how to cancel.

How to cancel

You can cancel any time, online:

You can also email us, and we’ll cancel it for you.

When you cancel, you aren’t charged again. You keep your plan until the end of the month you’ve paid for, and then your account moves to Free. Canceling doesn’t refund the current month, except as our Refund Policy says.

If a payment fails

Link may try the payment again over the following days. If it still can’t be taken, your plan may end and your account move to Free. Your Synsa Account page shows when a payment didn’t go through, so you can update your card at link.com.

Price changes and reminders

If we change a plan’s price, you’ll be told by email before the new price applies to you, and you can cancel before then. Where the law requires it, you’ll be asked to agree first. You’ll also get any reminders about your plan that the law where you live requires.

Refunds

Your first payment for a Synsa plan comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee. Monthly renewals aren’t refunded, but you can cancel any time. If you’re charged by mistake, we always put it right. Our Refund Policy explains all of this, including how to ask, and your rights under the law where you live always apply.

Using Synsa fairly

Synsa must not be used to hurt people or to break the law. The app shows a short version of these rules when it first opens and asks you to accept them.

What you may not make, ask for or share

You may not use Synsa, or help anyone else use it, to make, ask for or share:

  • anything sexual involving anyone under 18, or anyone who looks under 18 (we report it to the authorities);
  • sexually explicit content of any kind, including pornography;
  • “undressing” or sexualising a photo of anyone, or sexual or intimate pictures, videos or voices of a real person;
  • anything that encourages self-harm, suicide or eating disorders;
  • threats, harassment, bullying, stalking, hate or violence against people, or anything that exploits someone;
  • praise for, or planning of, terrorism;
  • instructions for making or getting weapons, explosives or illegal drugs;
  • fake IDs or official documents, scams, spam or malware;
  • false information about elections, or harmful health claims;
  • fakes of a real person meant to fool people; or
  • other people’s work, names, faces, voices or private information, used in ways that break their rights.

What you may not do

You also may not:

  • break the law, or plan or encourage something illegal;
  • upload photos of anyone under 18 for editing or video;
  • trick an AI past its safety limits, or get around Synsa’s own blocks, age check, limits, minutes or bot checks;
  • remove “made by AI” marks from what Synsa makes, or use the AIs’ answers to train other AIs;
  • pretend to be someone you’re not;
  • break into, overload or disrupt Synsa or anyone else’s systems;
  • copy, resell, rent out or share Synsa, your account or your plan, or use bots or scripts to use Synsa in ways a person couldn’t; or
  • build a competing service from Synsa, or take its code apart, except where the law allows it.

The AI companies whose AIs you use have their own rules too, and you must follow them. They can refuse a request or close an account that breaks them.

Synsa blocks some requests itself, and the AIs refuse others. Our Safety page says what Synsa won’t make and what happens when a request is refused.

If you break these rules, we may remove what you shared, limit what you can do, or suspend or close your account. Where the law requires or allows it, we may report illegal activity.

How to report a problem

If an AI in Synsa makes something harmful, illegal or against these rules, or you see Synsa being misused, please tell us:

  • In the app: tap the Report flag on the answer, picture or video. You pick the reason, you choose whether your question and the answer go with it, and you see exactly what will be sent before you send it.
  • Anything else: in the app, Contact support is at Profile › Support; on the web, our Support page or the email address in Contact us. Tell us what you saw and which AI made it.
  • Sexual content involving a child: use Report and pick “Involves a child”. Never send us the picture or video. If a child is in danger right now, call your local emergency number.

We read the reports we receive. We can block an AI model in Synsa and tell the company that makes it. Our Safety page explains the crisis help Synsa shows and what happens when a report involves a child, and our Privacy Policy says what a report contains and how long we keep it.

AI answers

  • AI makes mistakes. The answers, Summary, Breeze, read-aloud voices, pictures and videos in Synsa are made by AI. They can be wrong, incomplete, out of date or biased, even when several AIs agree.
  • It isn’t professional advice. Don’t rely on Synsa alone for medical, legal, money or other important decisions. Check with an expert.
  • Voice calls, and the voice guide on our website, are with an AI, not a person.
  • Say it was made by AI. Pictures, videos and text made with Synsa are made by AI and must not be presented as made by a person.
  • You decide what to do with what Synsa makes, and you’re responsible for how you use and share it.
  • AI can give similar answers or pictures to different people, so what you get may not be unique to you.

Back to contents

Your content

“Your content” means what you type, say and add to Synsa, and what the AIs make for you.

  • It’s yours. You keep whatever rights you have in your content. We don’t claim to own it.
  • You let us handle it only as needed to run Synsa for you, such as sending your questions to the AIs you pick, showing you their answers and keeping what you ask us to keep, as our Privacy Policy explains.
  • You’re responsible for your content, and for having the right to use anything you add.

What belongs to Synsa

Synsa’s app, website, design, name, logo and code belong to us. As long as you follow these terms, you may use Synsa for yourself. That permission is personal: you can’t pass it on or sell it.

Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity, OpenRouter, Nano‑GPT and the other product names in Synsa are trademarks of their owners. Synsa is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by them.

If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them freely, without owing you anything.

Other companies’ services

Synsa works with services run by other companies, such as the AIs and the stores that sell them (OpenRouter and Nano‑GPT), Google for signing in, Stripe and its Link service for payments, and Cloudflare for hosting. Their own terms and policies apply when you use them. We aren’t responsible for their services and can’t promise they’ll always be available. If one of them changes or stops, parts of Synsa may change too.

Back to contents

Closing an account

  • You can stop using Synsa and delete your account at any time.
  • We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if the law requires it, or to protect Synsa, the people who use it or anyone else. When we can, we’ll tell you why first and give you a chance to put it right.
  • If we close your account when you haven’t broken these terms, stop offering a paid plan you’re on, or stop running Synsa, we’ll tell you in advance when we can, and refund the unused part of the month you’ve paid for.

Back to contents

Our responsibility

We work hard to keep Synsa running and useful, but it depends on the internet, on other companies’ services and on AI, and any of them can fail. So, as far as the law allows:

  • Synsa is provided “as is” and “as available”. We don’t promise that it will always be available, work without errors or suit every need, or that AI answers will be right, and we give no warranties beyond those the law requires.
  • We aren’t responsible for indirect losses, such as lost profits, lost data, lost business, or losses that weren’t a foreseeable result of something we did wrong.
  • Our total responsibility for all claims about Synsa is limited to the greater of what you paid for Synsa in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50.

Nothing in these terms limits a responsibility that the law doesn’t let us limit, such as for fraud, or for death or injury caused by our negligence, and nothing takes away your rights as a consumer under the law where you live.

Disputes and the law

If something goes wrong, please email us first. Most problems can be sorted out quickly that way.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, apart from its rules on which law applies. If you live somewhere else, you also keep the protection of any laws where you live that can’t be changed by agreement.

Any court case about these terms or Synsa goes to the state or federal courts in California, unless the law where you live lets you bring it in your local courts. You can also use small claims court if your claim qualifies.

Back to contents

The small print

  • These terms, our Privacy Policy and our Refund Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Synsa, together with Link’s terms for anything you buy.
  • If a court finds that part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • If we don’t enforce part of these terms straight away, we can still enforce it later.
  • You can’t transfer your account or these terms to anyone else. We may transfer them to a business that takes over Synsa, such as a company set up to run it. We’ll tell you if that happens, and it won’t reduce your rights.
  • We aren’t responsible for delays or failures caused by things outside our reasonable control, such as outages at other companies, natural disasters or changes in the law.

Changes to Synsa and to these terms

Synsa will keep changing, and these terms may too. When they change, we’ll update this page and the “Last updated” date at the top. For important changes, we’ll tell you by email or in Synsa before they apply. If you keep using Synsa after that, the new terms apply. If you don’t agree with them, you can cancel your plan and stop using Synsa.

If we remove or cut back something that’s part of a paid plan you’re on, we’ll tell you first, and you can cancel.

Earlier versions are listed here:

  1. Who we are and what these terms cover no longer names a plan as an example of a custom deal.
  2. The paid plans changed: Pro now has up to 175 minutes of voice calls and Ultimate up to 375. Each plan’s limits for voice calls, reading out loud, voice typing and voice notes, and Google Maps are now listed in Fair use limits, with how they’re counted, and they run for each month you pay for (Paid plans and paying).
  3. Synsa is for adults: you must be 18 or older (it was 16). Using Synsa fairly now lists what may not be made, asked for or shared, and has a new part, How to report a problem. What Synsa makes is made by AI and must not be presented as made by a person (AI answers). Deleting an account cancels a paid plan at once; the earlier text said to cancel it first (Your account).
  4. First version. The same day, payments moved from Paddle to Link (Stripe), before any plan was sold.
